Mash Up Wallというインスタレーションで私の作品も展示されます

1978年に東京で生まれた荻野はスノーボードから受けた影響をきっかけに渡米。以後語学学校、カレッジを経て 2004年California College of the Artsを04年に卒業。翌年の帰国以降は国内外での展示(平面、立体インスタレーション)、レクチャーと活動は多岐にわたります。

Previously known simply as “Ogi”, the Tokyo born-and-bred artist Ryuichi Ogino received his BFA from the California College of Arts & Crafts in 2004. Working in a range of media that includes paper-clay toy figures, acrylic paint and wood, Ogino continues to exhibit work both domestically and internationally.

“Out of context Mush Up”という概念をリテラルに捉え、発展させたインスタレーション。

マッシュアップというのは元来音楽、特にDJplayにおけるミックススタイルの名称です。異なるボーカルトラックとインストゥルメンタルの楽曲を 並列して再生、もしくはミックスして編集するような手法をさします。
荻野竜一はMashUpにおいて、楽曲のジャンルや音楽的背景が全く無視され、音楽的な真新しさや快感に焦点が絞られている点に着目し、アニメや漫画/ ゲーム/音楽、アート/デザイン/グラフィック/デコレーションなど様々なコンテクストを組み合わせ再構成し、立体/平面作品へと落とし込むことで、これ を美術表現に置き換える試みをしてきました。
それは、価値観や背景の異なる物事が多様化し溢れる中、既存のコンテクストから解放されて別の要素を基準にして編集しなおして楽しむ今日のある側面 を模倣するようです。
またそうすることによってそれぞれのコンテクストを改めて観察する手がかりを与えることにもなるでしょう。
今回AMPcafeでは、そういったコンセプトを体現する作品を数点展示するだけでなく、Out Of Context Mash Upを応用する実験的試みとして、様々な作家による多種多様な作品をMashUp的感覚で展示するという方法に取り組みます。
展示方法は、壁面全体を一つのMash Up表現媒体として、A4縦サイズの作品をランダムな状態で並列的に配置します。
参加アーティスト30名、作品総数150点以上、全幅4m×2m以上の迫力あるインスタレーションとなっております。


The term “Mash-Up” is a technique widely used among DeeJays to create a song or composition by combining two or more songs, usually overlaying the vocal track of one song over the music track of another.
Ryuichi Ogino focuses on that Mash-Ups, while they transform the original contents, they eliminate their contexts as the result, and has been applying the technique on the visual art by placing paintings with different contexts next to each other and complete them as one painting. In his works, Ogino appropriates the tendency of today where various issues and ideas overlaps, hence enabling us to liberate from out dated customs and grant us the opportunity to bring issues and ideas in a new set of standards of our own. At the same time, such blending would give us tremendous clues to observe the contexts that have been ignored.
In “Idealistically Hypocritical 5″ at AMPcafe, Ryuichi Ogino experiments on applying the concept; Out of the Context Mash-Up visually, presenting not only his original art works, but also an installation in which he asked 29 artists to contribute their works. The wall was divided into A4 size grids then artists were asked to submit their works within A4 size to fill each grids. The wall will consist over 150 pieces of art works from 30 different artists stretching 4 meters in width and 2 meters in height.
